PRIVACY
Privacy Policy
PowerStatus is an independent community information service operated by Downtech UG (haftungsbeschränkt). This policy explains what information is processed when you use powerstatus.live and why.
PowerStatus is not an electricity utility or an official outage service. Community signals do not confirm power at any address.
WHO OPERATES POWERSTATUS
Operator and contact
PowerStatus is operated by Downtech UG (haftungsbeschränkt). For questions about personal data, access requests, correction requests or deletion requests, contact [email protected]. Please include enough detail to identify the relevant report or comment; we will assess the request and respond through the contact details you provide.
COMMUNITY SUBMISSIONS
Reports, locations and comments
When you submit an outage report, PowerStatus processes the report type, submission time, optional comment, postal or ZIP code, latitude and longitude, selected city or location, and selected utility. A report may be matched to a published place and may contribute to an aggregated community status. Reports are used in short activity windows, including 15-minute and 60-minute views, and older activity can stop contributing as those windows move.
Reports with comments can create a community note. Comments include the display name and text you submit and pass through automated and administrative moderation. Hidden, deleted, spam or unapproved content is excluded from public pages. Public pages may show a display name, comment text, report type, time and a broad place name when that place is already safe to publish. They do not expose the submission form’s private session or abuse-prevention values.
PowerStatus does not promise anonymity. Do not include names, contact details or other sensitive information in a public report or comment. You can request access, correction or deletion by contacting [email protected].
OPERATIONS AND SECURITY
Server and security logs
Routine web-server and application infrastructure can record request metadata such as IP address, browser information, timestamp, route, response status and error or security events. PowerStatus also uses request and session information to limit abuse, prevent duplicate submissions and protect forms. Operational and security records are used to run and protect the service. The codebase does not define one universal deletion period for infrastructure logs, so the applicable hosting and security configuration must be confirmed for a specific request.
MAPS AND EXTERNAL REQUESTS
Map providers
Interactive maps use MapLibre in the browser and request map styles and tiles from the configured Stadia Maps service, with OpenMapTiles and OpenStreetMap attribution. Loading a map can therefore send the browser’s request metadata and approximate network information to those providers. PowerStatus does not control those external requests; review the providers’ own privacy notices before using the interactive map.
Utility report map points are resolved from validated coordinates, postal areas or published locations and rounded by the map-location service; nearby reports can be combined into one marker. City and incident maps can also use the published coordinates of a canonical place. The public payload does not include IP addresses, session values or private form fields, but a submitted coordinate is still personal information before aggregation. A map request is not an official utility outage confirmation.
COOKIES AND STORAGE
Cookies and local browser storage
The site may set essential session and security cookies needed for forms and abuse protection. The report and comment flows also use server-side session state. The available source code does not show a separate browser-storage advertising profile.
Google Analytics and Google AdSense
Google Analytics and Google AdSense are mentioned here only as a production-configuration question: the repository inspected for this release contains no Google Analytics tag, AdSense script, measurement ID, publisher tag or consent manager. The visible advertising component is a local placeholder and does not by itself prove that Google advertising is active. Production tag injection, cookie names, consent blocking and the responsible advertising partners must be confirmed before this section can state that those services are active.
If Google services are enabled later, the relevant choices must be shown before optional cookies or similar storage are set. Google Analytics commonly uses measurement cookies such as _ga and _gid; AdSense and its partners may use advertising, fraud-prevention and personalization technologies. The applicable configuration must provide a working withdrawal or opt-out path. Reference information is available through Google Ads Settings, Google’s partner-sites explanation and Google’s Privacy Policy.
RECIPIENTS AND TRANSFERS
Who may receive information
Information may be processed by Downtech UG (haftungsbeschränkt), hosting and infrastructure providers, moderation and security service providers, external map providers, and—if enabled and disclosed through the production consent configuration—Google and other advertising or measurement partners. These recipients may process information in countries outside your country of residence. The applicable safeguards depend on the recipient, the service configuration and the law that applies to the transfer. PowerStatus does not sell community reports.
YOUR REQUESTS
Access, correction and deletion
Send access, correction or deletion requests to [email protected]. We may need to ask for information that lets us distinguish your request from another person’s report or comment. We will not claim that data can be deleted where it must be retained for security, legal or evidentiary reasons, and we will explain any relevant limitation. Public aggregates may no longer identify an individual after the underlying submission is removed or excluded.
We may update this policy when the implemented data flows change. The current version is always available at https://powerstatus.live/privacy.
